Race 1: UBET Handicap 1600m

They went very slowly here. Burrum’s Buzz (1st) sat just behind the speed, travelled up strongly and was the strongest late, got the job done, is probably better suited with a stronger tempo. Kirona (2nd) led, kept finding in the straight but was entitled too. Billet Doux (3rd) settled last, took the lead 200m out but knocked up late, the slow tempo didn’t suit.

Race 2: AAMI Handicap 2018m

Pretty Punk (1st) sat outside the leader, always travelled well and drew clear in the straight, a class above. Exalted Lightning (2nd) had a lovely run and ran on well in the straight, beat the rest easily. Majestic Moment (3rd) led and battled away in the straight.

Race 3: Schweppes 3YO Maiden Plate 1200m

Peretti (1st) has pulled off a good plunge here. Settled towards the rear, got rolling before the turn, peeled the widest and ran on strongly to score. Bajan (2nd) settled worse than midfield, travelled up well to hit the lead in the straight, winner just too strong late. El Desperado (3rd) had the perfect run and has battled on well enough in the straight.

Race 4: Holdfast Insurance Handicap 1050m

Flying Krupt (1st) settled at the rear on the fence, when a gap eventually appeared in the straight, attacked the line strongly to win with ease. Institution (2nd) had a nice run just behind the speed, showed a nice turn of foot to hit the lead, just knocked up late. Avanti Rose (3rd) had a nice run in transit, was outsprinted but kept coming in the straight.

Race 5: Happy 95th Birthday Noel McDermott Handicap 1600m

Sagaab (1st) settled last, the jockey rose for luck and a gap appeared about 100m out, sprinted very well to dash clear and win with ease, good win and ride. Ace Attack (2nd) sat outside the leader, battled on well enough in the straight. Our Mallee Hoff (3rd) had a nice run in transit, a touch one paced in the straight.

Race 6: Medallion Homes Handicap 1511m

Scratchy Lass (1st) settled last, peeled out around the turn, attacked the line strongly late, nice return to form. Tahnee Tiara (2nd) sat outside the leader, let down well to sprint clear, kept finding but the winner was too strong late. Naming Rights (3rd) had a nice run, was outsprinted on straightening, picked up again late.

Race 7: Adelaide Galvanising Handicap 1200m

It’s Been a Battle (1st) showed good speed to lead and then kicked clear on straightening and has held them off, good effort. Hazy Lane (2nd) sat outside the leader/winner and kept finding in the straight, has come back well this prep. Redente’s Edge (3rd) sat behind the leaders, battled on well enough late.

Race 8: The Junction Handicap 1050m

Midnight Storm (1st) had a nice run behind the speed, picked up strongly late to sprint clear and win well, good return. Vicki’s Boy (2nd) settled towards the rear, didn’t have much luck in the straight, once got out, attacked the line strongly, should have gone close. Swiss Design (3rd) sat just behind the speed, peeled out and looked the winner 250m out, just knocked up a touch late.
