It is a massive day at Randwick with four Group 1 races. The $4,000,000 Doncaster Mile has Another Wil as early favourite as he aims for 5 wins in a row, in a race with many chances. Last year's winner I Wish I WIn returns to defend his title in the $3,000,000 T J Smith Stakes over 1200m but will have to beat Imperatriz and others to do it. Riff Rocket is the favourite in the $2,000,000 Australian Derby following his win in the Rosehill Guineas but there are plenty of other quality 3YOs in the field. In the $1,000,000 Inglis Sires' Storm Boy heads the market. There is also a Group 2 race, four Group 3 races and the Country Championships Final on the program.
At Caulfield First Immortal comes off a good first-up win in the Group 3 $200,000 Easter Cup over 2000m and both Jennilala and Carini look serious threats. In the Group 3 $200,000 Victoria Handicap Globe is the favourite resuming from a spell in a fairly open race, while Antrim Coast and Apulia vie for favouritism in the Listed $200,000 Galilee Series Final.
At Ascot the Group 3 $200,000 Roma Cup sees the return of Amelia's Jewel who won it as a 3YO last year. |
