Track – Currently Rated Good 4

Rail – +8m 1200 - WP, +4m Remainder.

Race 1: Dequetteville Stakes 1050m

Good race for the 2YO’s to kick off the day. Lady Naturaliste is the current favourite at $4.40. Expecting an above average tempo.

Blake Says: Not a race I’m keen to get involved in with all the interstate form, watch and learn.

Lachlan Says: I'm completely ignoring this race. 2yo racing isn't my cup of tea and there are much bigger fish to fry with the later races. Holy Dancer $17 to $11 early is the only thing that has taken my interest but will be avoiding.

Race 2: BM 82 Handicap 1050m

Race for the sprinters and the talented Gytrash is the current favourite at $3.40. Looks some pressure with Heaven’s Deal and Domination the main speed engaged.

Blake Says: Good race. Gytrash is very talented but still very green, barrier one is far from ideal but with even luck, he will be very hard to hold out late. Debt Collector is another promising type, looked good in a trial, draws wide here which suits, will settle back off what looks to be a solid tempo on paper, can finish over the top of them.

Lachlan Says: I have a small share in Gytrash and it's great to see him back at the races. Has stayed away from the Listed Redelva first up and opted to get in on the minimum in a BM82. He's a nice horse going forward and will be hitting the line well. There looks to be a bit of mad speed in this which should suit things for horses like GYTRASH, SPLIT LIP and DEBT COLLECTOR. As I have an invested interest in a horse here I won't be getting involved.

Gordon Richards on Gytrash. " He had a good jump out at Morphettville last week that will hold him in good stead for this. Galloped strongly on Tuesday morning and seems to be in a good space for this. He's likely to sit off the speed and find the line nicely with the light weight"

Gordon Richards on White Kaps: " His three runs-to-date this preparation have been really good and the market seems to underestimate his chances. He's likely to sit off the pace Saturday with the pace on. He's going well enough but it's just whether there are a few classier ones in this. He'll try his heart out"

Race 3: BM 82 Handicap 1200m

Another race over a sprint journey and its an open market with Fancy Rumble and Scottish Rogue current $4.20 equal favourites. Doesn’t look too much speed, Easy Beast looks the leader.

Blake Says: A race with little depth. Scottish Rogue had every chance last start but finds a very winnable race here, dropping back to the 1200m looks to suit, with a positive ride I think he can land OSL, hard to beat from there.

Lachlan Says: Been a while since SCOTTISH ROUGE has done it but takes some decent enough form lines into the race. Hard to knock the horse when Barend Vorster is going so well. FANCY RUMBLE must be respected with the Francis-Kent stable back firing. CHAPEL CITY and even the Pt Lincoln-trained TOLSTOY looks to have chances if they go quick. I will probably play those two as small each-way bets.

Gordon Richards on Chapel City " He's great. Won his jump out last week and he looks a million dollars. He hasn't trialled leading into this so he is nice and fresh for it. All he has to do is position up within striking range and he will be hitting the line better than most. He'll go well"

Race 4: BM 90 Handicap 1600m

Race over the mile and A Shin Rook is the current $4.60 favourite in what is an open market. Temps Voleur looks the leader with Black Sail handy.

Blake Says: Tricky race. A Shin Rook the one to beat, ran well last start, looks set to peak here 3rd up and maps to get a nice run just off the speed. Black Sail rises to the mile which suits and looks to get on pace favours, can give a good sight at the each way odds.

Lachlan Says: Pretty keen on A SHIN ROOK here. An excellent 3rd from the tail last time out at the same track. Thought it would be hard to beat in the Bendigo Mile but didn't gain a start. Has drawn well and should position just behind the speed and have the last crack. Tricky little race but I think this horse is classy. Stable on fire.

Race 5: Port Adelaide Guineas 1800m

One of the features over the 1800m. The current favourite is Tongsai Boss at $4.40 who is aiming for a hattrick of wins. Mint To Be and Medieval Miss look the main speed engaged.

Blake Says: Tongsai Boss is racing very well, maps to get a nice run just off the speed here, distance the slight query. Classic Weiwei was a brilliant winner first up when nothing went right, got the job done last start. This is tougher but looks talented. Many queries here, staying out.

Lachlan Says: Getting into the tricky side of things now. TONGSAI BOSS could not be racing any better and it's good to see the horse living up to the early promise. Whether you want to take $4 about it in such a tricky race is the question. ICE GHOST is always racing really well but just keeps finding one or two better on the line. He'll be grinding it out again. STAR STATUS is getting to a nice trip now and was an excellent 2nd last start. I'm happy to be on ICE GHOST here and I think we can shop better than $10 on the day.

Gordon Richards on Ice Ghost " He's probably been getting to the front a touch early and been found out the last few strides late. If he can get some early moving line cover from the sticky gate then he can be fighting out the finish once again. He's a big chance"

Race 6: R N Irwin Stakes 1100m

Feature sprint over the 1100m. Cool Passion the current $1.95 favourite. I’m Wesley can hold the lead from the inside with Cool Passion, Casino Wizard and Hard Empire all handy.

Blake Says: Cool Passion does look a class above these, lands on the speed and should prove very hard to run down but the market agrees. No betting interest.

Lachlan Says: STEEL FROST owns a duck-egg to the form line but that was a G1 at Caulfield first up from a break. Always a tough task. You simply must respect the horses ability and the stable are absolutely flying of late. I'm prepared to forgive the run and butter up here each-way. COOL PASSION is the obvious but I don't like diving into the tomato sauce jobs and will once again be giving the MICA LIL team strength. Some great stories involved with that ownership.

Race 7: Schweppervescence Stakes 1800m

Race over the 1800m for the 3YO’s. Victorian visitor Mirette heads the market at $3.70. Doesn’t look a whole lot of early pressure in this.

Blake Says: Wide open race with a lot of interstate form. Mirette is top pick, looks set to peak here 4th up and maps well but looks short enough in a race with plenty of chances. Thought So We Are and Vanuatu could both run well at odds.

Lachlan Says: I'm a big fan of KENYAN WONDER. The last two starts were pretty plain to be frank but some excuses can be made. The horse has drawn the car park but that may be an advantage. She can sit off them in the moving line and have a crack at them in the straight. She looks a horse that needs clean wind and doesn't like being cluttered. YULONG METEOR ran an inconspicuous 4th along the rails last time out and gives every indication that the 1800m will suit. In powerful yard. Will be betting small on those two runners.

Race 8: Redelva Stakes 1100m

We finish off the day with a race over the 1100m and Anjana is the current $3.10 favourite. Viduka and Lake District Girl can both work across from wide barriers to be prominent early.

Blake Says: Tricky race to end the day. Behemoth trialled very well, finds a winnable race here first up, will get back and need things to go right in running. Keen to watch but no betting interest.

Lachlan Says: ANJANA is the deserved favourite. Has done some excellent things this time in and looks rock fit for it. Don't usually get keen on trial form and horses first up but it's hard not to be taken by what BEHEMOTH at the Strathalbyn trials. CHUCKY was really good first up and once again is in the hot camp. Small each-way bet on that but will be having BEHEMOTH as my best for the day.
