There is G1 and black type racing in both Sydney and Melbourne today. At Randwick there are 9 black-type races. The $1,000,000 Group 1 Randwick Guineas includes many that ran in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes over 1400m two weeks ago including the winner Osipenko along with Aft Cabin, Zou Tiger, Matcha Latte and several others. The field also includes Manzoice who is having his first run since winning the Victoria Derby in October. In the $1,000,000 Group 1 Canterbury Stakes New Zealand's best racehorse Imperatriz is the favourite as she has had 3 starts this campaign for 3 wins - 2 Group 1s and a Group 2. Her rivals include Golden Mile, Cascadian and Artorius. The $500,000 Group 2 Challenge Stakes is headed up by Eduardo who has won this race twice already. It also includes the enigmatic Shelby Sixtysix who nearly ran him down last year but did nothing last campaign, as well as Everest Winner Giga Kick and good sprinters Passive Aggressive, Paulele and Remarque.The Group 2 Todman Stakes includes 3 unbeaten colts - Red Resistance, Cafe Millenium and Militarize - as well as Silver Slipper Stakes winner Cylinder, while unbeaten filly Learning To Fly heads the field in the Group 2 Riesling Stakes for 2YO fillies. There are also two Group 3 and two Listed races.
At Flemington there is a capacity field in the $1,000,000 Australian Guineas with Jacquinot, Elliptical and Attrition among the popular runners. The $300,000 Group 2 Blamey Stakes includes Gentleman Roy (who was first past the post but was relegated to 2nd in the Steward's room at Group 1 level last outing), Tuvalu, Pounding and many other handy milers trying to win their way into the $5M All Star Mile. The meeting also includes the $750,000 Inglis Sprint for 3YOs where there are many chances, and the $175,000 Listed Festival of Racing Stakes for 2YOs. Plus 9 race metropolitan cards at Eagle Farm, Murray Bridge and Ascot.
