Rail – Out 5m 1000 to WP, 3m Remainder.
Race 1: Sabois 2YO Handicap 1000m
We kick off with a 2YO race and The Executioner who is an unseen debutant is the current favourite at $2.70 for the Busuttin/Young stable. Hard to have any confidence in a speed map with majority of the field on debut.
Blake Says: Can’t have any confidence here, watch and learn race for me.
Lachlan Says: Once again we will watch and learn a few things from the 2yo racing. Nothing excites me with this bunch but if you are desperate for an early bet, perhaps follow the late flucs and go from there.
Race 2: BM 90 Handicap 1550m
Small field to do battle here and Our Peaky Blinders is a current short priced favourite at $1.85. Fulton Street and Mihany look the main speed here.
Blake Says: Our Peaky Blinders went well first up in a good race, should improve here 2nd up rising in distance and finds a race with little depth. Clearly the one to beat but not keen to get involved at the current price on offer, looks a bet if it gets out to $2.10+ .
Lachlan Says: Perhaps Penny To Sell at the price is worth a ticket. Has a duck egg next to the form line but was only 4L away and they ran slick time over the 1400m. Might have a fitness edge when it counts vs the hot favourite.
Race 3: SABOIS + BM 82 Handicap 2400m
Many of the usual suspects going around here in the staying race. Olympic Academy is the current short priced favourite at $1.70. Doesn’t look much speed with Pat The Weapon the likely leader.
Blake Says: Zero betting interest here. Olympic Academy is a deserved favourite but too short. Pat The Weapon could give them something to catch at decent odds.
Lachlan Says: Next race please.
Race 4: BM 75 Handicap 1250m
Small field here with a very open market. Lucky Flipper is the current favourite at $3.60. Lucky Fish looks the leader with Lucky Flipper also prominent.
Blake Says: Very even bunch, Lucky Flipper had every chance last start but does find a suitable race and gets on pace favours. Diapason is an interesting runner first up for the Clarken stable, has not trialled, clearly has the ability to win a race of this nature and is a market watch. Staying out.
Lachlan Says: Even bunch here. Pretty keen on ROSELLI STING first up with the smother from gate one. Draws to do no work and Ryan Hurdle has a good association with the horse. First up form reads well and track and distance stats enthuse.
Race 5: BM 82 Handicap 1000m
Race for the sprinters here and Zalmona is the current favourite at $3.10. Domination should hold the lead from the inside with Tildy Lad coming across to be handy.
Blake Says: Domination has been impressive in both of his runs for the G. Young stable to date, finds another very winnable race here. Expecting him to kick up, lead and prove extremely hard to catch.
Lachlan Says: Musical Query looks well placed on exposed times and weight conditions with the claim for Z. Spain. Draws for a soft run. Looks a good play at a 1x3 quote.
Race 6: BM 75 Handicap 1400m
Good race here over the 1400m. Amberdi the current favourite at $3. Knotted looks the leader, with a group of them all wanting to be handy.
Blake Says: Amberdi was great first up behind the smart Crown Fontein, looked to be struggling on the turn but kept responding well. Stepping up to the 1400m here 2nd up looks perfect. Danger Deal continues to race well but does struggle to win, maps well here. Moghul Empire a very interesting runner first up, thought its trial was very plain.
Lachlan Says: I own a slice of ENKI for this race so will be cheering him on. He’s a real trier but he lacks a killer blow and is only worth a tiny each-way play. Early money suggests Moghul Empire might be ready to strike. Probably has the most upside.
Race 7: Sabois 3YO BM 70 Handicap 1400m
Good race here with some promising types engaged. Allusion is the current favourite at $2.80. Every chance it could take up the lead here.
Blake Says: Good race. Allusion was very impressive on debut, this is much tougher but can run well. Kemalpasa is flying but gets a negative jockey change. Thought So We Are went well last week, got flushed out wide on the turn, let down strongly and hit the lead but just tired late. Will need luck from the barrier but I think she can run a good race.
Lachlan Says: Tongsai Boss is on the quick back-up from a luckless performance last weekend. Held up the majority and was eased through the line. The winner from that race, Kenyan Wonder looks a massive talent. That form reads well enough for me to back each-way here.
Race 8: 4UP BM 64 Handicap 1400m
We end the day with another race over the 1400m. Behave who is 2nd up for the Clarken stable is the current favourite at $3.30.
Blake Says: Thought Behave went well first up when having no luck at all, Liked the way she picked up late after losing all momentum on the turn, Step up to 1400m looks ideal. Just hard to have any confidence in this race with Campobasso first up from New Zealand, big market watch.
Lachlan Says: Tough race to figure out on paper to end the day so will be staying out. Your guess is as good as mine so back yourself in!
