Race 1: Medallion Homes Handicap 1000m

We have a field of mainly debutants to kick off here, as I’ve said in the past, these aren’t races I like to get involved in, will watch and learn.

Race 2: Hughes Limousines Handicap 1000m

Wallace Street comes here second up with the blinkers going, looks an above average type, will be on speed and should prove hard to catch. Thompson’s Reward looks a nice type, Kah stays on, looks a big player. Mondo Magic is a very speedy type resuming, should be amongst the finish.

Good race but tricky, staying out.

Race 3: Holdfast Insurance Handicap 1550m

Jim’s Journey resumes here after contesting stronger races last prep, this looks suitable, but he hasn’t won in almost a year, couldn’t touch the current price on offer. Ashlee Marie and Star Fortune come here from Victoria, both very hard to line up. Scratchy Lass is flying and must be respected. Dances on Stars a big chance at odds.

Very tough race, looks a lottery.

Race 4: UBET Handicap 1950m

Exalted Lightning is flying, continues to run well, slightly stepping back in distance here which doesn’t look ideal but finds a very winnable race. The rest of these really aren’t going too well, all a very even bunch who are struggling to win.

Race 5: James Boag’s Premium Handicap 1300m

Miss Wahoo was dominant when winning first up, Kah stays on and if she can reproduce her first up run should be very hard to beat. Freehearted comes here off two wins in Victoria, very hard to line up. They look the clear two, Trupt probably the next best after scoring a deserved win last start.

Miss Wahoo on top but struggling to line up the Weir runner, will be staying out.

Race 6: Schweppes Handicap 1400m

Lord Topper is flying this prep, will be on the speed and give them something to catch. Infinity Queen is racing well, will be running on late. Baker’s Dozen I don’t think is going overly well, willing to risk. Tycoon Sofie not the worst at odds, should lead and could give a sight.

Extremely even bunch, very tough, I won’t be betting.

Race 7: Holdfast Insurance Handicap 1000m

Mile High is a talented type resuming, Kah takes the ride which is a big positive, might have to do some work early from the barrier but is the class runner. Oamaru Owl is an ultra consistent type who is sure to be amongst the finish here. Meridian Star can lead here and give a great sight. If Midnight Storm can find a position early from the tricky barrier, he should prove very hard to hold out late.

Extremely tough race, staying out.

Race 8: Meegz and Rorz Get Hitched Handicap 1250m

Brugal Reward opens up favourite here coming from Victoria, finding it very hard to line up these Weir runners. France’s Boy had many favours when winning last start, but finds a weak race. Mystified doesn’t look to be going well at all, looks very short. Battlecamp an interesting runner resuming, looks to find a winnable race.

Very average race to end the day, no betting interest.
