Melbourne Cup, Flemington 3200m.
Track will be Good with the rail in 2m. Dashing Willoughby led up in the Caulfield Cup and will likely do so here. Etah James could also push up from the outside. Any number of runners could try and hold a position from the inside. Hopefully this provides enough pace to give every horse a chance. We have Ashrun and Tiger Moth as our pre-post bets.
Anthony Van Dyck was huge in the Caulfield Cup, had to take off early and circle the whole field. Does have the impost of 58.5kg but has more class than previous overseas visitors. May drift a little more in betting.
Sir Dragonet was strong at the end of the Cox Plate but how much was due to the soft track?
Verry Elleegant over-raced in the Caulfield Cup but was still strong on the line. Track will be a bit firmer here.
Finche is solid and will run the distance.
Prince Of Arran was also good in the Caulfield Cup. Goes up 0.5kg for his 2nd in last year's Cup.
Big run by Suprise Baby in last years Cup. If he is ready he can go close.
Russian Camelot does drop a few kilos and will get a lesser pace with cover compared to the Cox Plate. May need the sting out to be at his absolute best.
Ashrun looks an out and out stayer. If he gets enough pace he'll be in the finish.
Coolmore have got Tiger Moth in with 52.5kg. Won't be easy from the draw but he has Kerrin McEvoy aboard who knows what is needed to win.
