The Hong Kong International Race Day is one of the most anticipated events in thoroughbred racing.  Known as the Turf World Championships, the event initially started as the Hong Kong Invitation Cup. The Hong Kong International Race Day started in 1989 and was only restricted to horses from Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. The race quickly gained attention from enthusiasts all over the world and gradually opened slots for international horses.

The Hong Kong International Race day is the sport’s global year-end spectacular, featuring the HK$28m G1 Hong Kong Cup (2000m), the HK$25m G1 Hong Kong Mile (1600m), the HK$22m G1 Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) and the HK$20m G1 Hong Kong Vase (2400m). The Cup, Mile and Sprint are the world’s richest G1 races on turf over their respective distances.

Hong Kong’s finest gallopers will mix it with international performers representing at least five other countries, namely Japan, Singapore, France, Ireland and Australia.
